A Bit About Me...

I'm a wearer of many hats: engineer, designer, writer, and Scrum Master. (If you check out the Hobbies section below, you'll see that I have a whole trunk of non-work hats, too!)

My very first coding class was in HTML and CSS, in high school. I loved being able to make pretty things on a screen, without having to hold a paintbrush or pencil. After that class, I started learning about Java and Object Oriented Programming, evenutally cumulating in a B.S. in Computer Science from American Univeristy. (Also a B.A. in Journalism, but that's another story...)

I currently work as a software engineer at Argon ST, a contractor under Boeing.

The Fun Section!

AKA other hobbies that I have.

Figure skating

I started skating in January of 2019. I've made a lot of progress since then, especially with jumps, which are my favorite element! I hope to perform a program someday...

The first ever video of my skating. This was 6 months in, June 2019, and I had just learned my front-outside-3-turns!
The last video I caught of my skating (I have short white-blonde hair now!) in March of 2020 before the rink shut down for COVID-19. I was working on the proper takeoff position for my Waltz jump.

Watercolors

Painting fascinated me as a kid, but I never invested the time to learn until the COVID-19 lockdown. Since then, I've been learning how to work with watercolors and to paint a variety of trees.

A large pad of paper with a variety of watercolor trees and ocean experiements.
Yeah, that's a whole lotta trees...

Traveling

I've been a couple different places, and I have a whole lot more to go! One lifetime dream I have is to eat my way around the world, or at least as many countries as possible. Currrently next up on my list: Amsterdam, South Korea, and Italy!

Unsurprisingly, Vancouver is quite cold in the winter.
A steep set of stairs surrounded by Italian buildings.
Italy was a dream to visit; I can't wait to go back!
An empty beach with a leaning telephone pole.
I studied abroad in Perth, Australia, during my junior year in college -- absolutely incredible!
